Rip Hunter ... Time Master

In the 1960s, DC Comics used a series called Showcase to highlight new characters that it thought might be popular enough to maintain their own ongoing series. Rip Hunter was one such character, and after his debut in Showcase he was given his own series. The initial popularity of the character wore off soon though as the series did not last very long. Throughout the series there was a recurring feature called "The Time Journal" which was supposedly written by Rip, but really served as providing some historical trivia for the reader.
