Only tractor driver Igor knows the truth about the alien visitors. But the district police officer, Sergei Petrovich, also feels that something is wrong in the village, so he begins an investigation. No one believes him, because the new ones unexpectedly quickly fit into rural life: Igor met those who would help raise the village, father Agafon — who would be guided to the right path, teacher Ira found a kindred spirit in the person of optimist Roma, and saleswoman Lyuba — a hero in the form of the interplanetary defender Borya. While Sveta, the mother of Borya and Roma, repairs the ship, the whole family lives in human shells. But hiding the truth is becoming more difficult due to strange events around, including beavers who have started talking thanks to an alien substance trapped in the river.
